My Beautiful Gift - A Mother’s Quilt

With everything that’s going on around here, I completely forgot to blog yesterday. Shame on me!!

My friend from Colorado is here in “town” because her daughter is about to give birth.  No word as of yet if the baby’s been born or not.

She mailed a box ahead of time with gifts for her friends and family. Normally she would just carry them on the train, but she said something about getting old and blah blah…  (Ha Ha Becky… you know I love you.  *giggles*)

But anyways, I was one of the lucky ones who received a gift from the lovely and talented Crazy Rebecca. When I took Luigi to get his blood test done on Tuesday, I stopped by to see her. And she gave me this…..

It’s a mother’s quilt and each of those squares represents one of my children. There are 2 squares for December, 2 for August and then my little oddball in November. Isn’t it perty? By the way, you can click on it to see it in more detail. It’s meant to hang on the wall and it’s almost as tall as my fridge and… I just love it.

Here’s another that she brought. This one was made for my mom. The top square represents yours truly *smiles* and the other 3 squares are my younger brothers.

My favorite part of these (other than the fact that they represent my family & the fact that my dear friend made them) is how each square is completely different. Even the fabrics within each square is different. Not only visually, but the fabric textures too. They’re just… I love ‘em. LOL

Becky sells these on her Etsy site. I know she puts her heart into everything she makes, but tell her Chris sent you and I’m sure she’ll put an extra bucket of love in it. =D

She’s not home now, as I said at the beginning of the post. But she’ll be back and ready for orders in a couple of weeks. You can use this link to request special orders like the mother’s quilt.

And you know you need a one of a kind doofy hat….

Thank you everyone for your support through this rough time with Luigi. Your comments mean the world to me!!  And to those of you who made me cry… again… I invoke my right to call you poopheads again… Ginny!!!  =D

I just received an email that had some incredible pictures in it. I’m super busy with work and a competition I’m entering in just a few days.. so I thought I’d share the email with you.

Totally Incredible!!!!!!!!!!!  These babies are made purely of icing.  The details blow me away.

“Marzipan is Almond paste: a sweet paste made of ground almonds and sugar, often with egg whites or yolks, used as a layer in cakes or molded into ornamental shapes.”

Magnetic Personality

I was over at Matter of Fact Mommy’s the other day and she was talking about how her husband was outside cutting wood. I shared with her a short story about what happened to The Ol’ Man last year while he was cutting wood. I offered to post some pictures & she proceeded to get down on her hands & knees, kiss my toes and BEGGED me to PLEASE post pictures for her. (Whadda ya mean “full of crap”? You did so!!! My imagination? Yeah… probably. Can we get on with this now? Thank you.) (Any of you who know MOFM know better than to believe what I just said.) (I’m begging for a beating from my readers lately, aint I? And they could all take me… I’m just sayin’)

Back to my story…

On Halloween, around noon, The Ol’ Man and his dad were gone cutting wood in another town. The Ol’ Man was wailing away with a sledge hammer on a metal wedge. On one of his swings, a piece of the sledge hammer broke off and shot him in the chest and made a nice gash. He said he put his hand to his chest immediately and his shirt was already soaked in blood. Scary stuff I tell ya!

He finished up his work and came home and unloaded the wood from the trailer. Then, around 10:30 that night, he said his chest was sore. Well, that’s to be expected. The metal had to hit with some decent impact to make such a gash through his shirt.

I asked him if he ever took a magnet to the cut to make sure there weren’t any little pieces of metal in there. Of course he hadn’t. So… he went to the fridge and got a very powerful magnet. I think it came out of a speaker or something. Anyways, he came walking into the living room with a smile on his face and a magnet stuck to his chest and he said “I think I’m gonna have to go to the doctor” Yes, a magnet stuck to his chest!! The magnet was about 3 inches from the wound. Believe it or not, he let me take a picture of it. But come on. How often do you get a photo opp like this?

He went to the emergency room and I finally heard from him about 2 hours later. He said they’d taken x-rays and found the metal in there. It had gone 3 inches deep and then sort of turned and went sideways. The doctor said that another inch or so and it would’ve hit his lung. The doctor said he was VERY lucky. The Ol’ Man’s take on the situation was, if he was lucky, it would’ve flown a foot to the left and missed him entirely.

Here are two pictures of the metal they dug out of him. You can see just how sharp it is. You could cut your finger on it just by running your flesh over it. So imagine having it shoot at you at a high rate of speed.

Don’t forget, there were 2 links in my post & I encourage you all to visit my friends. (Well, those who don’t appreciate the F word should probably steer clear of MOFM Hehee) But make sure you comment here first.. I’m just sayin’

Love Hodgepodge

I’ve spent the last 2 days dealing with my computer being a piece o’ junk. I’ve done nothing but run scan after scan and install upgrades and patches. I’m about 2 seconds from taking the plunge and reformatting this sucker!!!  Or maybe I’ll just take some of this money that The Ol’ Man left here and go buy myself a new computer.  *evil grin*

Tuesday night I installed Norton Anti-Virus because of that whole virus scare. I ran one of those 8,291 hour scans and it found 1 cookie tracker (big whoop) and a trojan (eek).

Then I decided that I’d go get another anti-virus software since I really DO need to start protecting my computer.  I’m obviously too cheap to pay Norton 100 bucks (or $1 for that matter)  so I went and downloaded Avast.

Now, you may notice that I linked to Avast, but not to Norton.  There’s a reason.  It’s because Norton sucks. Keep in mind that I had already scanned my computer with Norton before I ran the Avast scan.  That means it should’ve been clean, right?  After all, Norton is expensive and “oh, it’s just the best anti-virus protection you could ever ever buy.  Money well spent.”  *rolls her eyes*

Avast found 8 more viruses.  EIGHT!  Eight that Norton missed.  See…. free is good. I love Avast.

I just noticed that if you put your mouse over the heart in the comments, there’s a popup that has seizures. I have no idea why it’s doing that and I don’t plan on fixing it.  Actually.. it’s kinda fun to play with.

Something else I just noticed about the comments is how many of you don’t have a picture by your name.  For those wondering why, it’s because you haven’t signed up for one.  All you have to do is go to Gravatar.com & sign up.  It’s super simple and your picture will start showing up all over the internet. Millions of people use that thing for their blog avatars. So, go sign up. Doooo it……

For the first time since The Ol’ Man started driving, I got to talk to him via webcam & voice chat last night. It was so good to see him. But it actually made me miss him more I think.  He’s suppose to be home Saturday & that day can’t come soon enough. (I need someone to carry in firewood. Heheee)

Here’s a screen shot I took while we chatted.  He’d driven for the previous 20 hours and hasn’t shaved in a couple days so we’ll cut him a little slack on his lack of GQness.

Don’t you love the floating head thing he’s got going on?  I guess that’s what happens when you wear a black shirt and you’re bobbing around in the back of a dark truck.

Sometimes It’s Worth The Wait

Yesterday, I was at Walmart. Yes, again!!! Sometimes I feel like I live there. Anyways… I got done with all of my shopping and made my way to the deli for some roast beef, ham & colby jack cheese.

While I was waiting for someone to help me, a little old lady pushed her cart up beside me. This woman had to be almost 100. She was so feeble that she could barely push her cart.

She waited there beside me. And waited… And waited…

After about 5 minutes of patiently waiting, I could see the woman starting to get as frustrated as I was. I looked at her, rolled my eyes in disgust and said “This is ridiculous.”

We waited another few minutes and then, in the sweetest little old lady voice that I’ve ever heard, she said to me “You know…. this is bullshit…”

You got that right sista!!!!

And now… for your viewing pleasure… a picture of me, Princess, Tab & Luigi from about 3 years ago.

You Capture - First Installment

Beth, at I Should Be Folding Laundry, has come up with a new carnival called You Capture.

Our first assignment was to take a picture of something we love, without using flash. I immediately started snapping pictures of Frogger. She’s the only one that holds still long enough for me to take a picture without tracers.

Imagine my surprise when she decided to pose for all of you and show you her “I.Am.Rotten” look. This can also be referred to as the “I have you wrapped around my little finger” look or the “Watch how I make my mommy stop everything she’s doing just to come play with me” look.

Frogger is only 3 months old and look at this face!!! I am SOOOO in trouble!

ETA: I think I’m gonna have to sign up for a flickr account. I feel bad for not leaving comments on the pictures that are being hosted there (rather than a blog) for the carnival.

For those who ARE only submitting using flickr… I didn’t leave my mark, but I promise I looked. =D And so far, all I see is awesomeness!!

Pictures And Stuff

You know what I call this? A crying shame!!

Do you see it? Right there? In front of the dog?

Right there!!! The brown thing!! Yes!! That’s chocolate!! On the floor!!!

Someone wasted a perfectly good piece of chocolate and I am NOT happy about it.

And if you look closely, you can see that the rest of the chocolate is already gone from the heart-shaped box. *sigh* Such a tragedy.

LOL - Someone was apparently running around half naked during this picture. I just spotted a pair of pants, too.

I can’t wait for the dog’s molting too be done! The house is covered in hair. If you think the rug looks bad, you oughtta see my black bed spread. It’s gray now, from all of the hair.

And this picture? This one is a true testimate to a few of my many skills. That’s right. Skills I say.

First, we have the skill of being able to serve meals for days without the need for the dishes that are piled in the sink.

And, if you don’t count being able to stack 12 plastic bowls, 3 glass bowls, 3 saucers, 8 glass plates and 1 plastic plate in a single dish drainer as a skill… well… then I suggest you show me what passes for talent ’round these here parts.

And when you’re done with that, head over to Text Imps. I finally got the Post of the Week and Site of the Week added a couple of hours ago. Sorry about the delay.

Oh.. AND…. There’s a new post up at Christian’s Kingdom, too. He had his stuff ready for posting over a week ago and I … well… I kept forgetting to post it for him. I finally found a program to make his recordings quieter. I thought his last recording was going to make my ears bleed!!!! So I HAD TO find a way to fix that.

Make sure you come back tomorrow. I think I’ve come up with a new blogging game (or maybe you call it a carnival) that ya’ll might like.

Well look at me. I’m just little Ms. Bossy today aren’t I? Visit this, visit that, come back tomorrow.

Why are you still here??? Move It Mister!!!!!!!!
